Well not that long time ago since the last update :)
But after I was able to successful attack a Device Hosted TrueCrypt Volume, I thought I really have to publish the current TCBrute Version, as this feature was requested many times.
Nightly downloads has been updated with the current Version 2.7, so enjoy :)

Great news from the TrueCrypt front!
I was able to empower the crack speed of TCBrute more than 100% of the former version 2.5! Even multi threaded operations now better process the load capacity.
I didn't had time to investigate the keyfile bug yet, so you still can't attack containers which use keyfiles. I'm sorry about that.
I updated the nightly download - as always you find it here.
At this point I want to thank all you guys out there for the big interest in this tool and the massive feedback.
till the next time ;)

Heya,
There are some changes in the TrueCrypt bruteforce land: First, the project is renamed to TCbrute, this is a reaction of some trouble with copyright law of truecrypt.
I've made some minimal updates on the code, so v2.2 is out. However, this is not a big update as it doesn't add much more functionality. More things will come, so stay tuned.
Go to current TCbrute Download!

I'm happy to inform you that we have a new nightly build from TCBrute, Version 2.5. There are several improvements and added support for Hidden-Volume Headers.
As always you find the current binarys here.
We decided to move from gitorious to github to host our code. You find the current sources here: https://github.com/IsNull/TCBrute
If you find bugs, bug-reports are appreciated here: https://github.com/IsNull/TCBrute/issues
Have phun! |

I invested a lot of time with anaylzing the truecrypt source. First, it's not that easy to build truecrypt - (at least the boot thing), as you need the VS C++ 1.5 Compiler, and this old thing isn't easy to get. But hey, do we need that for our Crack operation? I don't think so. So I started to refactor the code and to isolate the interesting parts of the code. What we actually need is just the routine which tries to decrypt the TC Volume-Header, nothing more.
At this point, I have to tell you that the Source is hard as Hell to refactor. The C code reads like somone with a strong asm background wrote it o.0 However, after spending alot of time, I was able to manage the code and create a dll, which basically exports a easy to use function. Well at least a frist try worked so far.
I hope I can release a first version in the next few days which should be able to decrypt at least standard TC Headers.
c ya
